Quick Fields Agent Continuous Import (Rule Based) Request

posted on February 17, 2017 Show version history

Hello,

Our organization depends very heavily on Quick Fields for over 90% of the documents pushed into the repositories. We process all documents brought into Laserfiche from Import Agent, Laserfiche Scanning, Snapshot, etc. through Quick Fields. Every documents goes through the default Page Processing activities such as Rotate, Deskew, Despeckle. We also apply a document stamp for Type, Creation Date, and Page# at the top of each page. Several of our documents also undergo pattern matching and auto annotations which require the OCR activities.

As we are growing our repository, we now have over 30 schedules set up in Quick Fields Agent to process documents through Quick Fields. The schedules are constantly running throughout the day. This has proven to be a thorn in our side. Fortunately with Quick Fields 10, we were able to up the processors to 2 to help keep up with the schedules. However, we would see Quick Fields Agent much more beneficial to our organization if it had a continuous function built in similar to Import Agent, or set up similar to workflow and have rule based options.

We did meet with a couple of the Laserfiche reps at the Conference, explained our growing pains with Quick Fields, and our concerns with the Agent schedule as our only option right now. Please take these problems into consideration and let us know if there may be any more efficient ways to handle our organization's needs.

Thank You,

Zach Merrill

What would the rules bring that's not available with schedules? Is it only because you need to run multiple sessions at the same time?

We would like to run multiple sessions at the same time, however we know Quick Fields is very processing dependent. The problem is now that we are attempting to run 30 schedules every 1 minute which doesn't seem like a good idea. It would seem to work better if we had something similar to Import Agent/Workflow where documents are grabbed as soon as they are dropped into the folder rather than waiting for the schedule to grab it which can take several minutes or longer if there are large documents going through the sessions.

Thanks Miruna
