Question

Forms - first page load of the day slow?

asked on January 31, 2017

I can completely understand - I can have a bit of a slow start in the morning sometimes.

Something odd I've noticed - first thing in the morning, or after a delay in usage - the first page load for Forms can take 10 seconds or more.

Not a huge deal or anything, and I suspect an IIS setting somewhere, but I thought I'd ask.

Has anyone seen this before?

The loading of Forms is not necessarily an issue with Forms itself, but rather your IIS settings for the website. When a website in IIS is not being used, it has a timeout set to unload the site from memory to free up the resources. When the first request is made after the site has been unloaded, IIS has to reload the website into memory before it is made available. That is usually what causes the slowness. If you search the interenet there are multiple ideas of how to get around it. One popular method is called a KeepAlive.

OK, thanks Blake.  I figured it was IIS.

I'll look for the answers in IIS-land.

Hi Michael,

This was common in older versions of forms but seems to be pretty speedy in V10, what version are you using?

Cheers!
