Disable the office plugin download option in Web Access 10

asked on January 24, 2017

One of our customers is using Web Access 10.1 as their primary client.

They like it so far. One problem however is Office documents. Due to security and regulatory reasons, users are not allowed to install anything on their computers (the main reason they went with WA in the first place), so this dialogue presents a problem:

The "Install" button is very prominent, so some users have been clicking it and downloading the plugin .exe file. Is there a way to disable this dialogue completely and set a default somewhere so that Office documents are downloaded automatically, without presenting the user with the "Install" option?

Hey Ege,

In the current version (Web Client 10.2), there is no way to disable the prompts to download/install Office Plugin. We'll look into adding support for that in a future version, most likely in the form of a user attribute that can be applied to users or the everyone group.

For your reference, we filed the issue as SCR135697.

As an update, this issue has been resolved in the recently released Web Client 10.2.1. You can apply the fix by upgrading to the latest version.
