Error when importing a PDF into Laserfiche Web Access 10.1.2

asked on January 19, 2017

One of my users is having an issue with importing a specific PDF in Laserfiche Web Access 10.1.2. The error message they get states that "One or more coordinates are out of range. Parameter name: rectangle."

I had the user send me the file and I get the same error message. I have tried importing it via the desktop client also and I get the same error message. Does anyone have any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

It's something of a guess, but the problem could be related to a pdf annotation that Laserfiche is trying to extract into a Laserfiche annotation.  The annotation could end up off the edge of the page due to a coordinates conversion error or possibly due to the generated page having a different size than the pdf page.  Or maybe the annotation is off the pdf page, and it's just that Laserfiche is stricter about annotation location.  You could see if there are any annotations in the pdf, and see if removing them helps.

I just checked and the PDF has no Annotations, Drawing Markups or comments whatsoever. However I did notice in the properties that this PDF Producer listed in the properties is: Mac OS X 10.10.5 Quartz PDFContext and the PDF Version was 1.4.

This prompted me to try and open the PDF in Acrobat Pro on my computer and then just save it again hoping that maybe if it was saved in on a Windows machine that would resolve the issue but it did not.

I'd recommend working with your reseller to open a support case.  It should be pretty easy to at least determine what about the PDF is causing the import to fail.

Brian,

Thank you for your responses. I did a little research online and found a suggestion that worked. I opened the problematic PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro and then went to:

  1. File
  2. Action Wizard
  3. Prepare for Web Publishing
  4. Next
  5. OK

Once I completed those steps the PDF imported into LF with no problem. :-)
