Question

Cascade dropdownlist

asked on January 18, 2017

We do not want to use group police , instead we want three dropdownlist cascaded as the following:

1- Select Sector

2- Select Department

3- Show employee name

up on selecting the employee name , only this emmployee will be granted access to the document.

We would appreciate if someone can help us understand how to create a cascade dropdownlist.

Please note we DO NOT have laserfhiche forms.

Assigning security this way could quickly get out of hand. Can you explain your use case a little more so that we can see if another solution would work better?

Though it doesn't follow best practices, you can probably accomplish something like you ask if these fields are present on the documents you are trying to set.

You could try a combination of dynamic fields (pulls data from a database and allows you to have one field dependent on the selection of another) to set up the dropdown lists, and a Workflow with a Find User activity followed by the Assign Rights activity to assign the rights based on the selections in the field.

Thank you for your reply , what we need to do is the following :

1-Archive employee will scan incoming letter and send it to General Manager through laserfiche.

2- General manager needs to select sector (Example : Services Sector) , then select department (Ex.Finance) , then select a specific employee (Ex.Mark). Then he will click save to allow only (Mark) to access and view this file.

So the whole idea is how to filter dropdownlist using cascading. will appreciate it if there is a quick and easy way to do it.

Best regards.
