Question

Reassign task to previous user Task

asked on January 17, 2017

I have a form with 4 levels of review (Coach, Director, Exec, HR).  At each user task, I've created a timer event to interrupt the event if the time expires.  I am looking for a way to allow reviewers to 'Reassign' the task, but only to the previous user, to whom the task was previously assigned.  This could happen when the previous task is interrupted OR approved.  See example below:

User submits form for Coach review >> Coach does not review in time so the timer event interrupts the task moving it onto the Director.  At this time, I want the Director to have the ability to re-assign to the Coach.  Using the re-assign in Forms would just reassign to another person and would skip my director if the coach re-approved.

The main difference is that I need the ability to re-assign to the previous STEP in my 'workflow'.  Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Nate

Nate,

You should be able to do this with an Action Button at the Director step. Have a button that says 'Re-send to Coach' or something similar. Then the path just points back to the same User Task. Since the form should still have the variable for the user it needs to be assigned to, it should assign correctly to the user. If you are overwriting that value with something else when it gets to the Director, then you would need to change your process so that doesn't happen. Hope that helps.

Are the users for the User Tasks in question hard coded or are they being assigned dynamically?

Blake,

Users are assigned dynamically based on a field value in the form.  Using a variable to assign the task.

Blake,

This is the path I currently have, but it's a little clunky, plus it makes my Forms Process look like a spider web!  I was hoping that Laserfiche maybe had this built in.  Thanks for your help.

You'll get used to the spider web look. I was the same way at first.
