Question

Laserfiche high availability - Clustered environment

asked on January 16, 2017

Hi all,

I have some questions related to configuring Laserfiche Rio in a High Availability - Clustered environment:

- Can we use "F5 Load Balance" on IIS hosting Laserfiche Web Applications.

- knowing that Laserfiche Server operates as an active/passive application, can we configure the cluster environment to keep both nodes running and only direct connections to one node?

- Is there a list of events that can be monitored to switch from node to node (case when Laserfiche server service is running but Laserfiche is not working, example: Error mounting Repository, Error while constructing audit log...).

- Knowing that Laserfiche Workflow is not supported in a clustered environment. Can we implement Laserfiche workflow server on the clustered environment, and install the Subscriber outside this environment.

Thanks

  1. Any of the Laserfiche web applications can be run with a load balancer, as long as "session affinity" is enabled.
  2. Yes, that's typically how active/passive works.  When the cluster determines that the active node is no longer available, the passive node is made active and incoming requests are routed to it.

Hi Brian,

When you say "any web application" does that include Audit Reports? As you know, load balancing Audit Reports means having more than one server writing to the one Audit Reports database.

Hi Brian,

When you say "any web application" does that include Audit Reports? Given that load balancing Audit Reports means having more than one server writing to the one Audit Reports database.
