Question

field date search on exact date

asked on January 12, 2017 Show version history

Hi,

I understand from this site https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/9.2/en-US/UserGuide/Laserfiche_Client.htm#cshid=Search/Field_and_Template.htm

"All dates that occur on or after a particular date. This type of search can be performed by specifying a starting date and leaving the ending date blank."

that if I want to search on a date field for an exact date instead of a range I need to type the date in the first slot and leave the second one empty.

But when I tried this it searches for everything that is equal or bigger than the date

This happens in the client 9.2 and 10.1

Any ideas if this is an issue and how I can search for a specific date without having to type the date twice?

Thanks
Gian

Hi Gian,

I think the system is designed to always perform a date range search as from a user point of view, it's very rare that they will know the exact date of a document when searching.

Having said that, you can do an exact date search using the advanced search syntax, {[]:[Document Date]="11/01/2017"}

You could then create a custom quick search using the format - {[]:[Document Date]="%(SearchTerm)"}

Hope this helps answer your question..... wink
