Question

How to prefill a field which has look up rule

asked on January 10, 2017 Show version history

Hi All,

I am working on purchase order form. I have a requirement from client that anyone can create a purchase order and they can select the manager name to whom the order should go for approval. If the purchaser is the manager then his name should be populated automatically in manager name field.

I have created 2 fields purchaser and manager name. Manager name has a lookup rule to display list of managers for the user to select.

Now how can i populate purchaser name in manager name field where lookup is active ??

Help me with this..

Thanks in Advance...

How is the Purchaser field be filled? Is it by default display the current user's name by using the "{/_currentuser_display}" variable? If the form is filled by authenticated users only, then you can set the default value for Purchaser and Manager Name to both "{/_currentuser_display}", then Purchaser field be be auto filled with the user's name and Manager Name field will be filled with current user's name if it is the result of lookup rule.

Hi Xiuhong,

Thanks for your reply. I am Rajah. Even i'm working on this same project.

Yeah, you are right. the Purchaser and manager name fields are pre-filled by "{/_currentuser_display}".

In purchaser field there is no lookup rule, so the value is pre-filled.

In  manager name field there is a lookup rule for list of managers, here the value is not pre-filled.

What version of Forms are you using? I checked with 10.1.0.642(Forms 10.1 update 3), it works for me.

Hi Xiuhong,

I am using the same version (LaserficheForms10.1.0.642).

i tried creating a sample form and that worked.

I noted that in my scenario, I logged in as Admin and Admin record is not there in the database so in dropdown Admin name wont be there. In this case it is not pre-filled.

When i added admin record in database it pre-filled.

Thanks a lot  Xiuhong for helping me with this..

Kind regards

Rajah
