Generate Search URL issues 9.2 and 10.1

asked on January 9, 2017 Show version history

Having numerous issues with using a search URL when generating a Web Access URL in workflow.  We are currently using LF 9.2 and in the process of upgrading to 10.1.

  1. When I generate the link in 9.2 it returns a screen with “Unrecognized Name Error” in IE if compatibility mode is on.  Due to other programs needing it, we have to have compatibility mode on.  Is there a way to make the search work in comppatibility mode?
  2. When I generate the link in 10.1 looking at only a metadata field, it works fine but when I search for a folder (versus document) within a specific folder I start having issues.  Including the fact that somewhere between the search link and the results, it inverts the slashes in the folder path.  See yellow highlighting in screenshot.
  3. When I try to send this link in an email I have to use href=”… otherwise it cuts off the link.

Can anyone give me some hints on resolving theses issues.

How are you "generating" the link? You should always URL encode the search syntax before adding it to your URL, as the help files mention (I generally use an online tool to handle the encoding). I'm not sure about your problems with 9.2, but this should at least resolve the issues shown in your screenshots

Note also that as of version 10, there is a button to get the link for your current search:

You can also find this link button if you view the search syntax in the advanced search dialog:

Both these options worked for me for the Within Folder searches.
