Question

Disable changing of Entry Access rights for user ?

asked on January 3, 2017

Trying to figure out if there is a way to disable or deny a user from changing the entry access for a folder or a file that he/she has access to. Example user A has access to Folder A, want to deny User A from granting User B access to Folder A or removing any Inherited access rights for Folder A.

Cheers

NVM I guess will have to do it at Entry level when assigning user/group permissions ? Unless there is another way from the administration console, using privileges etc ?

Hi Sumeet,

You can also do that by unchecking the "manage entry access" privilege.

This will disable that user from being able to control who has access to certain folders / entries.

Hope this helps!

Thank You.

Yes i had to do that as well to disallow any user from assigning any access rights as well.

@Kentaro that does not resolve the issue since all groups/users we have do not get that privilege to begin with. According to the KB, it seems like an Admin privilege and we do not have that set for anyone on our systems. That is exactly what I thought first too but it did not help.

Manage Entry Access: The ability to grant/deny entry access rights to all documents and folders in a repository. To smoothly perform this task, this privilege bypasses several security mechanisms, allowing the user to open all folders and assign security on all entries. This privilege also grants the ability to see what documents are currently checked out and to undo another user's check out, and to view the contents of the recycle bin and purge any document within it. Does not grant the ability to assign other types of rights.
