Question

Set default value when value is empty

asked on December 27, 2016 Show version history

In Quick Fields, I am scanning a document and finding a value based on Pattern Matching of an OCR region.  I am storing the value from the Pattern Matching activity to a document field.  Occasionally the OCR region does not contain the value I am looking for and therefore the value is empty.  When this happens I want to set the value to a default value.  Is this  possible and, if so, how can this be done?

We are using the older version of Quick Fields (version 9.0.1.406)

The "conditional" activity existed in Quick Fields 9, but the issue may just be that you're not licensed for it as it requires the document classification add-on.

An alternative would be to configure Workflow to check the field value after the document is stored by Quick Fields. If the value is blank, then set the default value.

You can use a "Conditional" branch in Quick Fields. Set the condition to catch if the Pattern Matching token is empty. Then for your conditional process, use the "Assign Token Value" activity and modify the Pattern Matching token to use your default value.

I mistaken put version 10 but we are actually on version 9 so there is no condition branch option that I could see.  Any ideas on how to solve this in version 9?
