"Cannot find file. [6721]" error when Importing/Copying files from a shared folder to LF10

asked on December 20, 2016

Hi,

I am copying files/folders from Windows Explorer to LF10 volume and I am frequently getting the error message "Cannot find file. [6721]". But if I go to the folder/sub-folder where the specific file is located and copy it to LF then I don't get the error message. I am copying TBs of files from a shared network folder so my workaround is not a good option.

Any idea what this error message is and how to I fix this permanently?

Below is the error message details:

Error Code: 6721

Error Message: Cannot find file. [6721]

That error means that a file was encountered that is inaccessible. It's hard to say what might be causing this, but to diagnose it the best tool is Process Monitor. If you monitor the disk activity for LF.exe when the error happens, it should reveal what is going wrong.

Hi Robert,

I used the Process Monitor but I'm not sure what to look out from the result after I got the error message.

Find the file that it fails on (in the Path column), the Result column should indicate something other than SUCCESS when it is reading or opening the file.

Is there a simpler way to see the file name and path besides this 3rd party utility, something within the Laserfiche error window that they can use?

Hi Robert,

It shows SUCCESS and I can see the file in LF but has no pages and size is 0 - see below.

Moreover, the prompt in LF when this error occurs is actually asking me to copy it to a new filename since the file already exist in LF but when I click OK it just loops and creates multiple blank files in LF - ex.. filename(2).doc, filename(3).doc, ..... so I have to cancel the process and copy the file individually which works.

Please open a support case so that we can get the process monitor log from you and figure out what is going on.

Is there an outcome to this post?

I am experiencing the same issue, scanning a document to a share folder and when importing into LF, it asks for a template and when it starts the import process I get the error msg.  Error msg attached.

I had this error when the file path was too long to the file within Windows (too many sub folders). Just in case this helps.

I thought Windows maxes out at 256 path characters and Laserfiche maxes out at 2000.
