Question

Redact multiple pages

asked on December 19, 2016

Hi all.

Is there any way in Laserfiche to redact entire pages and multiple pages quickly, perhaps using a different redaction tool.  I have a client who has a 1500 page file and many of those pages have to be entirely redacted.  Simply deleting the pages won't work as they need to be kept.  The normal redaction tool would work, but it will take a very long time to go through the entire document.

Thanks

Chuck

It looks like you're licensed for Quick Fields with Annotations, so you could use Laserfiche Capture Engine to extract the documents from Laserfiche, redact them and then replace the pages in the existing documents.

Ok, maybe I don't understand your answer (I don't use the software myself), but it doesn't sound like the solution I'm looking for.  I'm not sure how extracting the documents out of laserfische is supposed to help or how you would redact them if they are outside of Laserfiche (using a sharpie?).

So we're talking about scanning paper documents then? Would they ever make it to Laserfiche or do you need to give your client redacted images?

Ok.  I still have no idea what you are talking about.  Let see if I can be perfectly clear

Paper documents are scanned into the laserfiche program.

The user then uses the redaction tool to blackout areas that are not to shown in the final version

The issue here is that in a document of 1500 or so pages are hundreds (not all, but a significant number) that need to have the full page redacted.

Using the redaction tool would take a lot of time to do each page individually.

The question is there a way to do this quicker.  Say some feature that lets you redact a number of full pages at once?

Yes, you can do this using Quick Fields. When Miruna says the documents will be 'extracted' from Laserfiche she's just referring to the way Laserfiche Capture Engine works, which grabs the pages from Laserfiche, processes them, and then sends back the new pages. But the end result is what you're looking for - a Laserfiche redaction can be applied to range of pages automatically.

See the links to the help files in Miruna's original response for more details.

Sorry guys, I don't know what quick fields are or how it gets into Laserfiche.  We have something called Laserfiche client 9.2  There is nothing in there that I see that refers to Quick Fields.  Your links are all just text based so I don't know if we are really even talking the same application.

Yeah, looking further into this, we are not running Laserfieche quick fields (which I'm guessing is a separate application).  The screens are completely different.

Yes, Laserfiche Quick Fields is a separate application that can be used to perform advanced image processing tasks on Laserfiche documents. I don't think there's a way to achieve what you're asking using just the Laserfiche Client.

Since our records show that your organization is already licensed for the necessary Quick Fields features, I suggest speaking with others in your organization or your VAR if you're interested in this.
