It depends on which functionalities of the customer is trying to achieve when managing the document; 

Though it's much easier to use Laserfiche to manage documents especially if forms & BPM are involved,  adding Laserfiche Web Part for SharePoint to any SharePoint portal enables users to browse any part of the Laserfiche folder structure through SharePoint, yet upon integration with SharePoint, the documents may be handled using LF workflow, based on the steps of the process, then the document will be saved back to the proper repository where the user could grab it back using SharePoint, this is what we are accomplishing currently with one of our customers in Kuwait.
