Question

How do I use workflow to make a redaction permanent on a copy of a document within the same repository?

asked on December 15, 2016

Department A redacts a document and needs to be able to see through the redactions it makes.  Workflow is used to make a copy of the document  and send it to Department B.  The document sent to Department B has a volume and template used only by Department B. The redaction on the copy received by Department B needs to permanent so that no one can see through it, not even with Laserfiche Administrative rights.  Both documents are stored in the same repository.

Essentially Department A wants to send Department B a copy with the image permanently redacted.  Is this possible with workflow?

You can accomplish this through the 'Replicate Entries' activity in Workflow. There is an option to 'Make redactions permanent':

However, note that if a user has Laserfiche Administrative rights, and the original document is still in the same repository, then that user will still be able to access the original document and see through its redactions.  So I'm not sure exactly what you're accomplishing here.
