Question

Using Laserfiche thru police mobile software

asked on December 15, 2016

Our police department uses software, tac10, for mobile access to the city network. The officers were able to access Laserfiche through the software using only Windows authentication. Around the first of September we upgraded Laserfiche Rio from 9.?, not sure what version, to 10.1. Apparently this upgrade disrupted the access from the police cars to Laserfiche. I was not informed of this until about 6 weeks later. The upgrade is the only thing different between when they had access and now.

When I add an officer as a Laserfiche user, they can access Laserfiche.

Is there some setting in Laserfiche that will allow the officers access using only Windows Authentication? I was not involved in the original set up of this access.

Any guidance will be appreciated.

Leigh

Are they using the web client (Web Access) or the desktop client to access the repository?

They access Laserfiche through a built in api that is apart of the tac10 record management system software.

What is the specific error message that they get?  There are two that I could see.  One is that there isn't a named user license assigned.  This doesn't seem likely though, no part of the upgrade should modify the license allocation.  You can check your license allocation with the admin tool.  The other possibility is an access denied error.  Not knowing anything about the workings of your system, I'd have to guess that this is because Kerberos isn't configured properly.  Maybe a service was moved and an SPN was not updated, or delegation rights weren't granted to a new server, or the old configuration didn't require it but the new configuration does.  That's just an educated guess though and it could be way off.

The officers get "maximum number of sessions" error.

That's going to be a licensing issue more than an authentication issue.  If you look in the administration tool you should see what connections exist such that another one isn't being allowed.  There is a limit of 4 connections per user.  It is possible that the root cause is that the authentication isn't happening correctly and every user is authenticating with the same credentials.
