Why does the generated pages disappear when a new version is created?

If the electronic document changes, then the generated pages are no longer valid and would need to be re-generated from the new version.  There's no setting to override that behavior.

Can workflow copy those images and repaste them to the new version?

I figured it out. The copy pages tool.
