Sending email to distribution groups WF 10

asked on December 12, 2016

Hi Everyone,

I have a client that asked why he is not able to send an email using a distribution group. I tried his setup on my workstation using an exchange server distribution group and it worked. Currently my client is using WF Designer 10.0.0.249 running on Windows Server 2012 R2. He uses Socket Labs SMTP Replay as their email server. The work-around for this was to separate individual email with " ; " but to be able to control things from the back end we wanted to do a distribution group but the email does not get sent and it returns an error that the email address is invalid. Is this a bug on this version for them to be able to only use MS Exchange to work?

Workflow does not try to resolve email addresses on its own nor does it have special handling for sending mail through MS Exchange.

Can you post the full error message (from the activity log in the WF Admin Console\Monitoring\Error Logs)? Or open a support case.

Oh, I meant the full error message from the WF Administration Console. That's not saying the email address is invalid. 5.7.1 error refers to a security configuration issue on the mail server.

Thanks Miruna, we figured that the issue was within the SMTP server setting. It was only setup to receive emails within the organization.
