Question

Mobile Template search (including specific field searches)

asked on December 12, 2016 Show version history

Hi,

I think I remember the first few version of the Laserfiche modile was providing the ability to search by select a Template and then you would get the list of fields and then search just like in the Client or WebAccess.

I have opened up the latest Mobile App on my iPhone (version V10.1.1.734) and also tested it on my Android Tablet V10.1.0.540) and with both, I was not able to search for specific field values.

It seems like I can only specify that, the Template name is this one or this other one, and then specify info that could be contained in any of the fields.

The use case I have is...  There is a Template that uses dynamic fields and I need to be able to select some of the key values and some other fields to make an efficient search.

We are also looking to be able to save some of these key searches in Mobile App users profile.

Can Laserfiche provide some comments about this?

Best regards,

Hi Daniel,

the Laserfiche app does not support searching for fields within a template, but we will consider this for a future release. For now you can utilize the "Saved Search" feature within Web access and export the [WebAccess]SavedSearches attribute under the user's attribute within the Laserfiche Admin Console. Afterwards you will then import it into Everyone's attributes to make this saved search applicable to all users and can run on mobile app.

Thanks Natalie for this reply.

I think it is necessary for the Mobile App to allow performing more complex search as well, so this needs to be put in your Feature Request list to be done... Sooner than Later smiley

Also, I was not aware about WebAccess saved search are showing up in Mobile.  I just tested it but, I get a Syntax Error when I click on that saved search.  That saved search contains a Common Search where only Text is selected and a Template with fields (with no values in any fields).

So this also means that, if we use saved search, this needs to be a saved search that will contain all search parameters and no input to the search can be passed to the search?

Please let me know what you think and I'll probably create a support case for that error.

Go ahead and create a support case and we'll update it with an SCR#(152591), and keep you within the update once this is addressed and released.

EDIT: this issue has been addressed and will be seen in the upcoming release.

I have a related issue now that we're on 10.2.  I can see the template options in the mobile app and when I check a template, choose Fields, and enter my search criteria I get no entries.

Similarly, I can see my saved searches from the Web Client in my mobile app.  When I choose any of them, I get a spinning wheel and it comes back with no entries before I even get to put in search criteria.

I am slated to deploy the mobile app to local fire companies for access to our safety data sheets, but with this inability to search using the template or the saved search this makes the mobile app useless for their needs.  Please advise.

Michelle, I have also tested with the same mobile client you have it will not search template fields either.

Andrew when will we see a release that fixes this?

Is there any official word yet on why saved searches do not return anything in the Laserfiche App?

Can anyone provide an update on this bug? I was just working with Michelle and even when you create a saved search it does not return results in the mobile client. For instance a saved search for receipts in a receipts template will not allow you to put in "Subway" and return results via a saved search, but if in the mobile app you just do a straight search for Subway you get documents returned that have it in the template field data even if it is more than just the receipts template.

It ends up searching the whole DB and returning more results than are needed.

Michelle's organization would like to give access to location fire departments to read their Safety Data Sheets. They created a saved search and just want the fire department to type in the city name, then select the SDS saved search. Right now it returns nothing.

Hello John,

First, following the very original thread was to specify a certain field in a template to search with, and it is still not supported on LF app at the moment, still have to configure saved search in web client and running on mobile app with one tap, you don't need to input any search text for running saved search on app.

Second, for the example you mentioned- only want to have results with "receipts" template and its field (any fields in that template) contains "Subway", you can input "Subway" with search type "Fields" and joint search by selecting "receipts" as a template filter.

As to the saved search fail to return any result issue Michelle had, I would suggest open a support case since we want to know version information on both app /mobile server/LF server, and how you configure the saved search.

Thank you.
Natalie
