Question

Multi page vs single page scans

asked on December 1, 2016

I am looking for a way to use separator pages with Quick Fields to achieve the following:

I have two classifications in Quick Fields that are identified by a barcoded cover page.  Multi-Page BOL & Single-Page BOL.

Multi-Page BOL - A cover page will be placed on top of each new 'packet'.  A new document (with multiple pages) will be created for each new cover page is found.  Once each packet is identified, I want to delete the cover page on each packet.

Singe-Page BOL - A cover page will be placed on top of each 'packet' with no separated pages in between.  Each page after the cover page should create a Single-Page BOL document type.

I've included a screenshot of my setup below.  Here is my main issue: I am able to get the Mulit-page BOLs to identify and create classes successfully.  It is the single page BOLs that are going to unidentified.

Session Configuration:

Multi-Page BOL ID Condition:

Single Page ID Condition:

So what does the processing information pane show for the single page document class? What is the last page identification set to for each of these document classes?

Miruna,

Right now I do not have any page-processing activities for testing.  Once I get it to work properly, I will add my page processing activities.  My Last page ID is sent to 'Limit documents to 1 page' - see below:

The processing info pane would show how the identification conditions evaluated (not just page processing information). So you'd see whether the barcode was read correctly from the "single page" images and whether it failed the identification condition.

Miruna,

My apologies, I mis-understood what you were asking.  It is reading the 'SINGLE PAGE' in the barcode and it creates a document type of 'BOL SINGLE' for the cover page, then creates one unidentified document with multiple (8) pages.  This unidentified document should have created 8 individual BOL - SINGLE documents.  I'm wondering if I have to do the initial QF Session to determine if it's single/multi page, then run the single page group through a secondary session?

Your document class says that in addition to identifying the first page, any documents in them have to have 1 page. So, your identification goes like this:

1. Is it a multipage?

  • If yes, create doc.
  • If no, is it a singlepage?
    • If yes, create doc
    • If no, this is an unidentified page because any of the existing docs I found so far already have one page so they're complete.

If you want unidentified pages appended to the previous single or multi-page found, then the document class' last page identification shouldn't have a page limit.
