Good morning Miguel,

You can do that by first moving the current content of a volume's fixed and/or removable path to an alternate location (backup medium) and then restoring the backed up volume data to the desired repository so that the folder structure and data is restored.

One thing to keep in mind is that backups should be performed when that repository is not in use. A good practice is to either temporarily set "Everyone" to read-only, disable the volume, or taking the repository offline when backing up. This is because we always want to synchronize databases and volume backups.

Hi Miguel,

Just want to add that before deleting the data that was originally stored in a volume's fixed and/or removable path, you will need to test that you have properly restored volume data. This can be performed by manually inspecting your documents and electronic documents from Laserfiche Client or Laserfiche WebAcess.

To find the fixed or removable path of a volume. Open the administration Console, log in to a Repository, expand Volumes to see all the repository's volumes, to find the path, right click it, and select Properties, and choose the Path tab.

Good morning Miguel,

For each volume, you should:

  1. Move the current content of a volume's fixed and/or removable path to an alternate location.
  2. Restore the backed up volume data to the fixed and/or removable path, so the folder structure and data is restored.

One thing to keep in mind is that the volume data should be synchronized with the SQL user database. You can do this by either temporarily setting "Everyone" to read-only, disabling volume, or taking repository offline.
