Question

Repository Users Through LFAdmin Console

asked on November 24, 2016 Show version history

Hi all,

I want to understand one thing about user's able to access Repository.

I created few Laserfiche Repository users through LF Administration console. Repository named user is 'False' and I have assigned full rights and privileges for the users I have created. And the users were able to access the repository , files , webaccess , connection can be made from quickfield application etc

I want to know how many such users can I create?  Is it mentioned somewhere?

What is the difference and feature difference between a

1) repository named user = 'Full'

2) repository named user = 'False'

3) repository named user = 'Retrieval Only'

I know that only users with full license can be assigned to a user task in Forms. Other than that is there any limitations for Repository named user 'False' type of category users being created in LF admin Console?

Hi Akhil,

While a full license allows the user to perform any action in the repository given the sufficient rights, a retrieval license limits the user to viewing the information in the repository.

A general rule of thumb is that a user should be given a retrieval license only if that user should never be able to create or modify documents or repository settings.

Setting the user license to false will simply remove the user from the named user list.

The number of users that you can add to the named user list depends on how many licenses you purchased.

Hope this helps!

Thankyou Kentaro.

But my question is even, after setting user license to false, the laserfiche user was able to login to repository and do the tasks according to the rights for the users.

I could not see any difference other than that between a named user and a user whose license is set as false.

That sounds like a misconfiguration (possibly from leaving a connection still open), but it's not really possible to troubleshoot it here. Please open a support case.
