Question

Forms Time-out length

asked on November 16, 2016 Show version history

Hi,

Our client are using LF 10.1 RIO with Forms.

It takes a while for our users to fill some of the lengthy forms for a reserch intensive business process and even though all users are instructed to save as draft as often as they can, sometimes they miss it and end up losing all the work because of the 20 minute time-out. We want to increase it to 40 minutes or an hour.

After some research on Answer site, I know the time-out duration can be increased by going into Web.Config my question is which one?

There is a Web.Config in each of the below folder.

C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Laserfiche Forms\Forms

C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Laserfiche Forms\Config

Also, in LFDS there is an option called "SSO session lifetime (minutes)". For a long time I thought this where you could do it, was I wrong?

Thanks,

Adarsh

Please update it to 60 for the idle time out to see whether the issue will get resolved.

You can make the change directly in the IIS FormsAppPool settings. Once you get IIS Manager open, on the left you will see options fir FormsAppPool . Below are instructions you can use get to that area in a couple different ways.

To open IIS Manager from the Start menu

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • If you are using Windows Vista® or Windows Server® 2008, click System and Maintenance, and then click Administrative Tools.

    • If you are using Windows® 7 or Windows Server® 2008 R2, click System and Security, and then click Administrative Tools.

  3. In the Administrative Tools window, double-click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

To open IIS Manager from the Search box

  1. Click Start.

  2. In the Start Search box, type inetmgr and press ENTER.

Hi Steve,

I read on multiple Answer answers that LF Forms time-out has nothing to do with Forms time-out and that we need to update the Web Config file. Please can you let me know if below is where you would update the time-out from 20 to 40 or 60?
