Question

Migrating RIO License failing through DS

asked on November 15, 2016 Show version history

My client is migrating their RIO License from one VM to a clone on a different host.

We are currently unable to deactivate the old license through DS, when the Deactivate button is pressed the error "Deactivation failed (LMO25)" appears.

Does anyone have experience with this situation?

Further, is there any other thing I need to do on the new VM to activate other than entering the key? Would a cloned VM require to build the DS site again?

The two main reasons deactivation might fail are:

  1. You activated manually and uploaded the license file (as opposed to entering the activation key directly in Directory Server)
  2. Your machine cannot reach the activation site.

However, if the machine is a clone, you maybe be able to load the database on that machine. Note you cannot have two Directory servers running the same master license (one will invalidate the other), so you could try just detaching from the current machine and attaching to the second.

If it tells you the license is invalid, you could try a manual deactivation of the key so that you are able to activate the database again.

If the manual deactivation fails, you may need to contact customer support so that they can investigate the specific customer.
