Question

Question

Ports 55xxx

asked on November 15, 2016

Hi,

My customer ran a netstat and discovered that LF.exe has connections with all of the https 55xxx ports. Does anybody know why? My first guess was the cloud integration, but it would be great to get some confirmation and clarification on this.

Thanks,

Brian

LF.exe meaning the desktop client? The only nonstandard port it uses is connecting to the LF server on port 5051 for folder refresh notifications. The cloud integration does everything over ssl on port 443.

Thanks for the reply, Robert. That was what I believed as well. The customer provided a screen shot, but it's not really clear to me that they're coming from Laserfiche despite the LF.exe at the bottom. What do you think?

Those connections are for a different program, netstat lists the connections below the executable name (in brackets). Also the column with the ports in the 55000 range is the Local Address which is assigned by windows when connecting to a remote machine. So in this screenshot the program is connecting to various addresses on port 443 (https).

Windows selects values between 49152 and 65535 for the client side of outgoing TCP connections (ref).  It's configurable if you have some reason you want to change it.
