Question

Listing of settings/attributes and if they follow with you

asked on November 14, 2016

In advance, sorry if this is already on here - I've done several searches and paged through results and have not found anything.

I am wondering if a list exists that shows  which settings are machine specific vs. user specific and which follow with you or not.  We've had some issues where solution was in Reg Keys and some in user attributes.  Would love a go to list to know where to look when troubleshooting (with reference to if it follows from machine to machine (such as scanning Image Processing options) or needs first time set up on every machine used (such as Snapshot).

Thanks!

Hi Kate,

There actually is indeed a list of user attributes for the Client in the DevNotes on the Support Site. (Support Site login required.) These user attributes are specific to the Laserfiche user and so will be associated with the login, not the machine.

The settings for Snapshot are settings for the printer driver which depends on the machine and the current Windows login to the machine (not the Laserfiche system); the settings for the "Current user" configuration dialog are kept in the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Laserfiche\Snapshot8\Profile\CurrentUser. However, you can consult this section of the Product Help Files for more on how to configure Snapshot for new users, rather than exporting/importing the registry key for each user.

Hope this helps!

Thanks.   Would it be safe to say that all of these LF attributes follow with the user from machine to machine?  Are there settings other than Snapshot that would be machine specific and not follow with the user?  I've had a couple recent issues where deleting the Client reg keys was the solution, not wiping the LF attributes so am looking for a better understanding of which controls which...
