User Not Authorized To Perform This Action Error in Forms

asked on November 11, 2016 Show version history

I saw a post where a user was getting the "Not Authorized to Perform This Action" error when trying to access a form on the Forms site.  In that case the Access Rights were never assigned to him.  I'm getting the exact same error for a user with a Participant License, but in this case he DOES have access to the process.  In fact, he can open the form in the tasks section, and even fill it out, but gets this error when he tries to click the 'Submit' button, and the form does not submit.  All the other users, even in the same location as him, can submit fine.  Any ideas on what could be hanging this up for him?  Here is the popup he gets:

Hi Rick, can you check whether there is any error in the event log on the Forms server related to this error? Also you can try to remove this user from the access rights page first then add it again to see whether it helps. If the issue still can't be resolved, please open a support case with your VAR.

Thank you, Xiuhong.  There was an error on the server saying it was an invalid login, with a backslash going the wrong way.  Why it still let him log in is beyond me, but when he put the backslash the other way it let him log in AND submit.  CLS/username logs in but doesn't submit, CLS\username logs in AND submits.  Since he could login I never suspected the login name, appreciate the response.

Hi Rick, Are you using Laserfiche Server  or Laserfiche Directory Server for authentication in Forms? I tried with both two authentication methods, I can't login with Laserfiche/username for a windows account.

Xiuhong,

What about non-LDAP users?  I have a participant user that is on the access list, can log in and view but receives the error when she tries to process the approval of the form.

Can you reproduce this issue stably with this user? Did this happen to all the tasks she has or only a specific task? Is there some special characters in her name if it happened to all the task?

Kip, I also had that problem in addition to the one I had above, and in this case it turned out the user was going to the DMZ url address rather than the regular forms site address.

You know, my company pays for the assurance plan every year and made quite an investment in this software. This forum was supposed to be a resource for Laserfiche customers, not just VARs.  I have answered questions many times for others when I could help. I would appreciate the  same courtesy.

Hi Rick,

Silly question but is the process published instead of being hidden?

Cheers,

Carl

Yes, the user can see the task(s) associated with him, and call the form up and fill it out, he just can't submit.  It says he is not authorized to perform that action, but there is no Laserfiche account to adjust permissions because he is under a Participant License for Forms only.  The other users can submit, and I set their Participant License accounts up the exact same way.  This particular user is crucial to the process, so it's holding everything up.  I just can't see what else to adjust.

I would recommend opening a support case with your Laserfiche VAR.
