Question

I keep getting the error message Please Mount the Correct Volume : 9056

asked on November 10, 2016

I am trying to define the default Volume for a folder in LF but I keep getting the following error message:

Please Mount the Correct Volume : 9056

There is no mention of this error message in the user guide and the online help file just gives "Mount the Correct Volume" as the answer - which is rather vague to say the least.

What is a correct volume?

How does LF know if a volume is correct or not?

What do I need to do to get this working?

It would appear that my DEFAULT volume (which is not used in my setup) did not have the correct UNC path name. This appears to have caused an issue in the system when I tried to update the default volume name away from DEFAULT.

(In my head that makes sense, but as I write it, I see that it's not very clear).

I'm not finding anything on that error either, but I have a few suggestions based on prior problems I've had with volumes.

1. Make sure that there are no problems with the drive or share where you've got the volume set in the Laserfiche Admin Console. Make sure that the service running the Laserfiche server has access rights to the drive where you have that volume, and that there's sufficient drive space where the volume is located.

2. Ensure that the VOLUME.ID file is there, and that the information in it is correct. If the volume.id is corrupted then fixing it is going to be a real pain. I hope you have a backup of the volume that you can restore if that's the case. Based on the message you're getting, this is the most likely cause of your problem. The VOLUME.ID file is how Laserfiche server matches up volumes with records about entries in the database.

3. You can use the volume consistency checker to see if there's a disconnect between what's in that repository and what's in the database records for the contents of that repository. I don't know if that will address the problem you're having, but it's a handy tool to have anyway.
