Question

Auto-login Quick Fields

asked on November 8, 2016

My client recently moved their quick fields install to a new computer. On their previous computer it would never ask for a password when opening the session, but now it does. The session files are on a shared network drive so their location never changed. I was informed that there may be a way to save the password used so that it auto-logins into the QF session. I couldn't not find this setting in QF and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks.

I'm not sure why this would change after moving to a new computer, but perhaps this is the setting you're looking for:

Edit:

If that's not it then it's probably due to a login issue for the document class connection (which would show up when opening the session if metadata updater runs) and/or, if using Laserfiche Capture Engine, that connection. I'd check both those places to ensure that all the information is what you expect. You can find the connection information for the document class by right clicking the document class and selecting Document Class Options. You can find the Laserfiche Capture Engine connection information by going to Scan > Configure Scan Source in the toolbar at the top.

I've found that section, the issue was that the session apparently always required a password, it's just this user at their old computer had it setup to auto-login so they wouldn't have to enter it every time. My client wants to keep the password on there but without having to enter it every time(mainly just to keep out people who shouldn't use it). Thanks

Have you considered using the Quick Fields Server for this purpose? It provides a central place to store the sessions where you can apply access rights to them, among other useful features. This provides a way to deny access to users who shouldn't be using it, and then users who did have access wouldn't have to enter a password.

Quick Fields never had any way of remembering the session password for the user so it does not have to be entered again. The only thing that might come close to looking like that is if you had a session for the administrator and not for the operator, and you set QF to always open in operator mode.

I see. Where in the session would I find that option, just in the current session options? Thanks!
