Question

Question

Close socket connections after use it

asked on November 4, 2016

Hi Answers team right now we have a Customer with an interesting question this is the case:

We have an enviroment with Workflow integrated with an other server using ORACLE for his data base engine.

What we have in the process there?

Well we have workflow and import agent working almost every time may be at day they rest about an hour but the  process has a lot of concurrence

We always are waiting for entries on an specific path after a few validations we insert in the ORACLE data base.

But our client told us that we have like 10 connections to the Oracle Server and use about 210 sockets

the  questions is : ¿Is there a way to configure a task , after you finish to use the socket close that socket and continue or a server configuration for the quantity of sockets that Laserfiche are able to consume?

Workflow uses the Oracle ODBC driver, it doesn't explicitly open or close sockets.

Thanks Miruna, so you have any suggest ? the client not only share that connections with Laserfiche apps also with other systems and Laserfiche use a lot of sockets, and the other apps are taking too long to retrieve info.

So you have no way of identifying which applications the connections come from?

Not exactly but we can imagine they come from Workflow to the oracle server because there are dedicated servers.

A thing that we try is to close connections by odbc, setting a time out of 15 after a connections was open an unnused. that release sockets very fast

I think I answer my self on the reply above , that configuration is managed by the ODBC Drive an object external to Lasefiche app so Laserfiche do not have the responsability to give me a solution because the problem is not under your application.

Sorry to bother you guys.

You have an Oracle server dedicated to Workflow? And another one for the Laserfiche Server?

Hi Miruna we have

Workflow dedicated server

Laserfiche and SQL Server

Web Server with web access on it

And an Oracle server

That's an interesting setup. So Laserfiche uses SQL, but Workflow uses Oracle? If you don't mind me asking, why did you choose to run Laserfiche with SQL and Workflow with Oracle? Was it just because of Laserfiche Server licensing?

ooouuh I think I confuse you a little ...

We have al laserfiche apps running on SQL Server , but the proyect in that case have an integration with ORACLE server.

When I said integration I mean just a Update or a insert in a few tables of the client ORACLE server

Oh. Yeah you did.wink

You said WF and Import Agent, so I read as Workflow and LFS using Oracle as their backend. Not that it makes any difference in terms of the ODBC driver question. But it does explain why you said the connections must to be coming from WF.

Exactly smiley...  so you have any recomendation for that or is out of you "Laserfiche hands"?

Sorry, like I said, the driver manages that connection and I have no idea how that relates to sockets.
