Question

Lost of the master license when directory server is restarded

asked on October 27, 2016

Is there something set it wrong, when we restart the directory service we lost the master license and the laserfiche server services cannot be restarted.

if after the restart of the Directory service, we go to the web page, an error telling the master license is invalide, so we just renew it and all is back to normal. but if we restart again the directory service, same issue. it need to renew the master license.

I have not seen this before to other Customer? any idea of why and how to fix it

There is not enough information to troubleshoot the issue, I suggest to contact LaserFiche Support Department and submit a case. Information that should be included in the case:

1. exact version of Directory Server , from the upper right corner > menu> About, take a screen-print of the exact version.  9.x or 10.x (Need exact version and build number)

2. Not quite sure what you mean "laserfiche server services cannot be restarted". You should be able to restart the Directory Server service from services, this should not affect the LaserFiche server service. If so please include  a detail description of the behavior in the case notes.

As a general note: if the Directory Server database is invalidated (for any reason), then the Laserfiche Server license validation will fail completely, which causes the service to fail to start.

As such, it's the expected behavior that when your Directory Server is giving you an error about an invalid license, the Laserfiche Server cannot start.

The issue here is then why the database was invalidated, which will be handled in the support case you have opened. We will update here if we come to a resolution that would be useful to future users.

Any resolution on this, as I accidentally came across this, and we Have a case open with LF for the exact same issue.
