Question

Forms participant licenses - use AD?

asked on October 25, 2016

I have a client who would like to avoid having to create a new set of usernames/passwords for forms participants licenses. I know we can use an LDAP configuration, but is there any way to assign it based on AD users or groups?

Using an AD group is how we manage most of our participant licenses.

From the forms admin page, search for your ad group, select it and then press the Allocate License button.   ( The button is hidden until you select a group or user )
Like Steve said, I think this is only a version 10+ feature but it works great!

This was not possible in version 9, but I believe is now possible in Version 10, utilizing the new Laserfiche Directory Server. Suggest you start there.

Steve, that's not quite right. AD is a specialized implementation of LDAP, so you can use it to assign participants directly in Forms. The feature is available in both Forms 9 and 10. See the "To add LDAP participant users" section in the help file.

Laserfiche Directory Server is the other option for Rio installations.

Sorry Miranda, fuzzy brain, what I was thinking about was the difference in the login credentials between Full Named Users and Participant Users when using LDAP. The challenge we had was the Participant Users credentials pulled back through LDAP in v9 was the email/password and not the full domain which didn't allow users to use Windows Single Sign-on. We were told this was changed with the LF Directory Server in 10.
