Filling out a PDF form using a radio button with Other option

asked on October 21, 2016

I am trying to fill out a PDF form submitted from a form that has a radio button with 7 choices, one of the choices being 'add other choice' option on the form.   This provides Other and a text input on the form.

My PDF form fills out perfectly except I don't know what values to assign to the form for the Other option or the text input.    All the radio button options work fine except for the Other choice.

Is it possible to get the text from the Other choice and put it into my pdf ?

Instead of selecting the check box for "add other choice" I would leave that unchecked. Add "other" to your choices so you can assign a value to it. Create a field for "Other" that can be filled out. Have a field rule that shows that field only if "Other" is selected. On the PDF you will need a field where you want the "Other" text and then map to that field. I hope this helps.

Thanks Derek.   I think I will use your idea so I can get things finished up.  Quick and easy. :)

I still wonder if the other text is somehow available in a variable.  Check boxes make it easy to use.

Try this. Not sure what the variable is at this point as I can't see it in the Variables tab.

Find the variable for the field. In this case I used Set_Up_Instructions.

Left click on the gear and select the check box.

I tried including the variable in instance and task descriptions but still unable to get it to work.    Will have to play with this more when I get some time.   Must be some way to pull that 'other' text out.

Appreciate your suggestions and posts.
Thanks,

Andrew
