Searching an Apostrophe in Web Access

asked on October 18, 2016

I'm trying to do a search with an apostrophe in web access and it's not working. It is giving me this error "The search engine encountered an error when parsing the full text search query. [9472]". I've gone into the delimiter.txt file to remove the apostrophe from the default delimiters and add it to the non-delimiters column. It's still not working. However, in the laserfiche client doing the search works fine. Any ideas?

Hi Alex,

We'll look further into this error, but you actually don't need the apostrophe in the search. If searching for dont [sic] you will receive results for don't as well.

If you wish to follow the behavior of the Client, you can escape the apostrophe by searching for don''t [sic], which does return slightly different results. If I were searching for specifically the word don't, then searching for dont returns fewer false positives. (*)

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

(*) For Document Text common searches, that is; for Entry Name, fields etc. using double single-quotes is accurate.
