Process Images From Laserfiche Mobile App in Quickfields

asked on October 17, 2016

Is it possible to capture a picture of a document using the LF Mobile App, save that image to the repository, then have a Quickfields session run against it?  Specifically, can I have a Quickfields session read a QR code from the document image as part of document classification?

I'm looking for functional options for document handling in the field and would like to use the same Quickfields session that we use for documents scanned onsite.  I ran a test using an image uploaded from mobile and was not successful.  Before I spend loads of time trying to make it work, I would like to know if making it work IS possible.  Thank you.

Laserfiche App, starting version 11, will have the ability to launch camera and read in QR code. It'll be available in metadata text field, search input box. In forms, QR code reader will also be available to input for text and number field.

As for QF processes, those are optimized for scanner input, and barcode reader from QF most likely won't work well on camera images.

For your case, I'm wondering if our new QR code scanner with device camera will help. Is your purpose to fill in the metadata field with the content of the QR code? Let me know and we'll see if there's anything we can improve on.

Julia,  We scan the sheet to a network drive from one of several locations.  Quickfields pulls the scanned images in from there and the QR code is used to determine whether this is a Delivery Ticket or another type of document, then the QR code values are used to fill in the document template and ultimately route the document into the repository.

If we could scan directly to the LF repository folder and have the QR code complete the template that would be a best case for us.

Yes, you can use the Laserfiche Capture Engine scan engine in Quick Fields to pull images from the repository.

Hi Julia,

May I know if the plans to support QR code on Laserfiche app is still in the pipeline? If yes, when is the expected the release date?
