Best process to fix issue "Validation of viewstate MAC failed"

asked on October 12, 2016

Hello All,

I have a user who is currently on LF Server Version 9.0.1 Build 610 and on 9.0.1 of Web Access. They are experiencing the issue depicted in LF KB Article https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1013541/a-validation-of-viewstate-mac-failed-error-occurs-when-logging-in-to-web-access-9-after-installing-windows-updates-2894854-2894855-or-2894856-

What I would like to know is, what is the best process to resolve this issue? Have the user upgrade to version 9.2 of the LF Server and then run the Web Access 9.2 install files on the server with Web Access? If there is another way that this should be done please let me know.

Thanks!

Laserfiche Web Access 9.2 requires version 9.2 or later of the Laserfiche Server.  You will have to upgrade the LF server first.

If you would rather not, you can upgrade to Web Access 9.1.1 sp2 only or go through the workaround described in the kb article.

If they upgrade the server to LF 9.2, do they have to worry about other Laserfiche applications needing to updated as well? For example, Work Flow or Quick Fields?

Thanks!

You should check the requirements for each application or check the readme.htm for each one.  Workflow 9.0.2 for example requires Laserfiche Server 8.0 or higher (Laserfiche Server 8.3.1 or higher is recommended).  If you're already at LF server 9.2, then you don't have to do anything. It would be best to check the documentation.

One last thing, would they be able to upgrade to Web Access 9.1.1 SP2 even though they are on LF Server 9.0? If they can, is there a link directly to Web Access 9.1.1 sp2?

Thanks Raymond for all your help.

Laserfiche Web Access 9.1 requires version 9.1 or later of the Laserfiche Server.  If it's not available as a download, you can use your 9.1 VAR kit (if you kept a copy).
