Question

Idle timeout

asked on October 12, 2016

We are rolling out the Client department by department (so I'm new to this.. help me! :) and a couple of my staff are losing connection with the repository without having logged out or anything. I found the setting in the Admin console to add a logout automatically or idle logout setting and both say inactive or false.

Are there other reasons a user's session would just automatically close? He has been dealing with this for a couple of weeks and he's pretty certain he's not accidentally logging out, he's even gotten an error code when the Client was still open!

Yes, sounds like it could be network related.

This could happen if there is a network interruption. The client does a background "ping" every few minutes to let the LF server know it is still connected. If the ping can't make it to the server, the connection will be closed.

So it sounds like it might be an issue with this employee's computer connecting with the Laserfiche server, yes? He is not not "on-site" and the systems seem slow where he and his staff are already. Could it be more of an IT issue then and not an admin setting?
