Question

gmail and laserfiche

asked on October 3, 2016

We are using Google Chrome and gmail but when I try to send a document by email it tries to open the Outlook.  We have changed the default email to gmail but that still does not work.  We were told that Laserfiche 10 would work with gmail so we upgraded but still isn't working.   Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I don't think we should have to pay for another program to fix this issue it is like google is new and more companies use it now.

Can you provide more information about which applications you are using? Are you trying to use LF Connector to send emails? It sounds like you are emailing from Web Access or the desktop client. With Web Access you can configure it to send through gmail using SMTP, or you can email by sending a MSG file that brings up outlook. With the desktop client your only option is sending through Outlook. You can find more information in the help files.

The LF Client uses the MAPI DLL for its "Send as Email" function.  MAPI has no support for webmail.  More and more customers seem to be moving away from desktop mail clients and to webmail clients.  Does Laserfiche have any plans to change the client to accommodate this?

Any input from Laserfiche staff?

Where are we at with this now? Last post on this thread is 2016. Have a corporate client using gmail and wants to use the LF integration.

What needs to happen for them to use gmail to send e-mails (with workflow and from full/web interface)?

We have recently migrated to Gmail and when trying to send documents as an email from Laserfiche desktop, it opens up in Outlook even though default mail has been set to Chrome.  Has anyone had any progress on this query?
