Question

key was not present in the dictionary

asked on October 3, 2016

Hi,

we're running into an occasional problem with WebAccess.

Sometimes when attempting to save a document after making changes to it the users get an error stating that "the given key was not present in the dictionary" (adding stamps seems to be the most common case, but just changing a field seems to cause it occasionally as well).

Sometimes waiting a moment and trying again seems to fix it, sometimes closing the doc and reopening it is required.

I've tried looking through the even viewer for any hints, but can't find any entries regarding that error.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I am experiencing this as well with stamps.  Very similar circumstances as Boris.  We are on 10.2 and use the Web Client only.  Do you know if this was in fact linked to Chrome?  We were advised to use Chrome as our preferred browser for Laserfiche.  Thanks for your help!

Hello,  I am having nearly the same problem.  We use custom Stamps as signatures during a forms + workflow process where the approver stamp signs in a WebAccess iFrame onto the document.  However, some approvers experience the "key was not present in the dictionary" error occasionally & unpredictably.  I've noticed this to happen on I.E. and Chrome.

Are there any solution yet?

How big is the stamp you are applying?  Is the issue tied to a custom stamp?
What version of Web Access are you running?

Small stamp, both in size and length of text.

Version 10.1 of WebAccess.

Not sure if it's custom stamps only, we only use use custom ones, so can't comment on any others.

Please have your VAR open a case with Support.  Please provide a briefcase containing a sample document with your custom stamps.

Did some more investigating on this issue to be able to provide as much info as possible. Here are some more findings.

The issue happens regardless of the presence of custom stamps, or stamps in general. In the current case there were only freehand drawings on the page.

The issue was resolved by restarting the browser and reopening the document. However, just closing the tab and reopening did not resolve it. Browser had to be shut down entirely.

This was with Chrome. I'm having the user switch to Firefox to see if that changes anything for them, and IE as a last resort.

In this particular case, the document started of already having a number of freehand annotations on the page. We added three more and clicked "save". One of the annotations was saved, but two of them just disappeared. Restarted the browser, and everything seems ok.

Hi Boris,

We would still like to look into the issue.  If possible, can you provide your VAR with a briefcase containing a sample document that we can look at so we can reproduce the issue on our end?  It would also be nice if we could get the Event logs from the machine where the issue occurred since that most likely will contain a stack trace that we can look into.   If you could pass those onto your VAR, that would be quite helpful.  Thanks.
