Question

Sending Links to Folders in WebLink

asked on September 29, 2016

I am wanting to allow users to send links to specific folders in WebLink. I have noticed that the startid does not seem to change as I change the folder level so whether I send the link from the top of the folder tree or further into the folder tree, it takes me to the top of the folder tree. I cannot send a person to a specific location using a URL link without sending them to a single document. But, I want to be able send them to a list of documents (a project folder).

Is this a WebLink limitation and does anyone have any suggestions if so?

Thanks!

Megan,

You can easily get the link to a specific folder or file in WebLink by right-clicking on the file or folder that you wish the user to access directly and choose either "Copy Shortcut" or "Copy Link".

In the image you can see that I am going to copy the link for users to be able to access all of the files located in the 2016 folder (https://edoc.cityofaikensc.gov/weblink/0/fol/226761/Row1.aspx ) by right-clicking on it and choosing "Copy link location". The wording is different in other browsers but they all do the same job.

Oh awesome! I did try this before posting and it gave me the javascript detail. But, I think I did it from the folder path at the top. Tried it again by clicking on the folder icon, and it did work using "Copy Shortcut". Did not have "Copy Link" option, but as long as this works I'm good. Was hoping it would be an easy answer!
