Question

Multiple repository creation Issue

asked on September 28, 2016

We have one application server (Win 2008 R2 server ) where 1 repository is in place which connects to SQL 2008 ( Win 2008 R2 server ), now we have 1 new WIN 2012 server having sql 2016 database instance and we are trying to create a repository against this database on same application server.

Initially we needed to update the UUID for this database so as per instructions from LF support we have installed SQL native client 2012 on application server and updated the UUID for it. So connection to sql 2016 was successful from application server.

Now when we go ahead and create the repository we are not able to see any database in drop down list.

See attached file for issue in detail.

Are you making a copy of a repository on the other server?  Based on your description, you've made a copy of the repository since you mentioned you updated the UUID.  If you did make a copy, then the next step would be to register the repository, not create one.

Please go through the instructions found in the Admin Guide.

That's right! We have created a copy of the repository on the other server. We have tried both options that is, create repository and register repository, the problem remains the same. We are not able to see any databases in drop down list.

You should be using the Repository registration wizard/Process in the LF admin console since you are not creating a repository.

Are you using full SQL or SQL express?  Are you able to connect to the SQL instance using SQL server management studio?  What account are you using to connect to the SQL instance using SQL server management studio?

In the screenshot you posted, the SQL instance is named ATK20CT80015SQ04.  Does the LF server service on the new machine have rights to this instance? Is the account used by the LF server service, the same account you are logged into windows with?  Try using that windows account for the service and try the Repository Registration wizard again.

Yes

1. we have used Repository registration wizard/Process for creation.

2. we are able to connect to the SQL instance using SQL server management studio using LF server service account. In fact we have been able to update the UUID of database from LF server and repository database in on ATK20CT80015SQ04 server. so there is no question that LF server cannot access the SQL database.

so same account has been used to connect to both LF admin console and database as well.

The only thing is we cannot RDC using this LF service account to ATK20CT80015SQ04 server. Is is necessary because while updating uuid the connection was successful and we haven't got any problem.

What's the name of the SQL db that you ran the UUIdupdate on?

Is it attached to ATK20CT80015SQ04?

UUID update was done on Repository database on ATK20CT80015SQ04 SQL server. IT was running on the same application server where we are trying to create repository from.
