Question

Send To Outlook Folder in User's Account Properties Randomly changes

asked on September 27, 2016

Hello,

I have a few users on LF Client Version 9.2 and with Outlook 2013 who are seeing a weird occurence in their LF attributes. The users have a specific folder path saved under their account in LF Admin Console. In this case we can use the example \Imported Email\Scan and File as what is initially set in the SendToOutlookFolder attribute. When they close out and then try and save an email to LF from Outlook, when they return back to their attributes in the LF Admin Console, the default path has changed to: \Imported Email\DocuNav/cnelson. Has anyone seen this issue before?

Thanks!

Please see this help page about setting the default folder used for Outlook email import. Note that this option is only accessible from the Web Administration Console. The default path is \Imported Email\%(username)

Hi Alex,

The user is stating that they have never used the Web Admin Console to alter the SendToOutlookFolder attribute in the past. They have always been able to set it in the Admin Console. They have sent over examples of the attribute showing random folders within LF and not the default one that you had earlier mentioned. They stated that the attribute setting has always retained it's setting in the past. Is there any additional information on this? I do find it odd that the folder gets set to something other than the default location.

Thanks!

Make sure the [Settings]DefaultEmailImportFolder and [Settings]SendToOutlookFolder attribute does not exist under the Everyone trustee or individual user trustee.

When logged into Windows on the Client workstation PC, go into the registry to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Laserfiche\Client8\Profile\[RepositoryName]Settings and make sure there is no string (REG_SZ) value called SendToOutlookFolder.

No go back to the Laserfiche Administration Console and add the [Settings]SendToOutlookFolder attribute with a legal path set as the data value under the user trustee.

See if that now allows the user to save emails from Outlook to the specified path in the [Settings]SendToOutlookFolder attribute. You may need to close and reopen Outlook and the Client first.

Hi Alex,

I had the users follow the steps provided above in regards to their issue. They stated that the fix did not work at all. Is this something that is resolved in an update or hotfix perhaps?

Thanks!

I was testing with Laserfiche 9.2.1 Service Pack 2. You may want to make sure the customer is using 9.2.1 and has the service pack from KB 1013737 installed.

Here is a video demonstrating this working in my test environment.

Alex,

In your screen cast video, it has 'Save to Support92' which is an additional toolbar action.

  1. How did you add this customize quick access toolbar?
  2. Can you set a default folder path, volume and template for this toolbar item?
