Question

Email Files within Workflow

asked on September 26, 2016

I am trying to email files from a specific folder within Laserfiche using workflow. I am using Find Entry to select the specific folder, then selecting the "Output Entry" from the Find Entry task as an attachment on the email. I have selected that the entry is a folder and also selected "Attach a copy of the folder's contents." When the email is sent, it attaches the files as .lfe files, as opposed to their original file formats (.pdf). I need these to be sent in their original file format as they may be sent to people who do not have Laserfiche on their computer or may need to view the files while off network. Is there something I am missing to get these files to be attached in their original file format?

I managed to fix it by correcting the attachment properties while "the selected entry is a Document" was selected, then switching it to being a folder. I thought that the document settings wouldn't influence the attachment due to Folder being selected, but it seems that is not the case.

When setting the attachment in Workflow where you chose the Output Entry, there should be a blue link for Properties near the bottom.  In this window you can change from attach link (.lfe) to a PDF.

Yes, that's exactly what I was suggesting.  I should have clarified that the option at the bottom for Document had to be selected.  Glad you got this working!

The dialog was not sized properly and the folder properties were cut off in Workflow 10. This issue has been fixed for 10.2.
