Question

Workflow Service Task Terminated causing "In progress" status

asked on September 20, 2016

Hi,

If a Workflow Service Task terminates due to an error, is there anyway to salvage a Form instance without resubmitting from the beginning?

If a workflow fails then the Form process gets stuck in the "in progress" status, which from an Administrators POV can be easily overlooked as having no errors occurred. Are there any plans to perhaps set the status to "Suspended", so that an Administrator can retry the activity?

Thanks in advance

That doesn't look normal. If the Service Task is set to wait for the workflow's completion, you probably want to check if there are any errors in the event log and open a support case.

Is your Forms process set to wait for the completion of the Workflow task?

Correct

Then the workflow task should suspend. The process' overall  status would still be "in progress", but it would be listed in the list of instances with suspended tasks on the Operational Dashboard. The administrator can retry the suspended activity.

Hi Miruna,

Below is what is showing on the Operational Dashboard:

If I open the instance that the Workflow Terminated on:

Below is the Workflow:

Is this not the default behaviour?

Thanks

Hi Dominic,

Did you resolve this, I'm having the same issue.

Hi Zane,

Unfortunately not. We were unable to send over the Forms database to LF support as it contained sensitive data. I had to put in a Try Catch activity around areas giving us errors in the Workflow and then manually resolve them.

I would suggest creating a Support Case for it as I'd like to know if there is a fix for this!

Regards,

Dom

Any updates on what causes this? I have been working with support on it for days.
