Exporting list of document to Excel

asked on September 19, 2016

In previous versions of LF, I could Export a list of documents to an Excel spreadsheet.  Now, (Version 10.1), when I export (now called Download Report), the results are all jumbled into one column.  How can I get this to spread each column from LF into their own columns in Excel?

It sounds like your reports are now being downloaded using commas as delimiters instead of tabs.

You can choose the delimiter type here:

If you select "Tab", Excel should always automatically put the values into columns when opening the file, so this seems like what you want unless you have a specific need for a CSV format (comma-separated value).

If you select "Comma", it depends on how you open it in Excel as to whether it will display in one column or in many.

There are a couple ways to get Excel to open CSV and show columns. I like the "Text to Columns" option, found under "Data". You can select "Comma" as the delimiter for the conversion to columns.

Try changing the delimiter character (tab vs comma). Excel is finicky with opening CSV files.
