Import Agent: Creating folders with field values

posted on September 16, 2016 Show version history

Is there a way to have Import Agent create a folder based on the field value that it is assigning on import?  For example, the profile is set up to assign a value to the Author field.  What is the appropriate syntax to enter in the Properties Tab to create a folder with the Author Value?

We have tried "TestRepository\%(Author)" but this creates a folder called "%(Author)".

Thanks,

Is the value of field 'Author' from file property, for example, email properties? I don't think Import Agent 10 supports creating folder with the kind of tokens, however, we will investigate to support in later release. Please try to use workflow to workaround it.

No, the Author file is not from file property.  In fact, I've tried it with other fields and it does not work either.  It'd be nice to have a definitive answer from Laserfiche that it does not support field tokens.  I understand that I can use Workflow but it'd be nice to do the import using one product.

Thanks for your help.

Import Agent 10 only supports tokens that are shown on the configuration to create folders. We have filed SCR149190 internally to support more tokens. Thanks for reporting it.

What version of Import Agent are you running?  Does the field "Author" have a default value?  If you use a date token (%date), does it work?

Hi Raymond,

No, Author does not have a default value.  If I use a date token, it works.

Thanks,
