Question

Question

populate new form instance from open LF document template

asked on September 12, 2016

Hello -

We have a typical LF FORMs process that users enter the data into.  On occasion, we'd like to open an existing LF Document and use the data in the Documents TEMPLATE to prepopulate the NEW FORM Instance with.

We'd considered putting a button on the LF Client that could start the FORM process, but can't figure out how to pass the TEMPLATE data to the initiated FORM.

Is this possible?  Would appreciate any ideas that may move us further along.

Thank you,

Mike

Hi Mike,

If you have Workflow 10, you can use the new activities "Invoke Business Process" and "Set Business Process Variables" to kick off the Form and populate it with the data from the template. This will start a Forms Business Process, and the logic of the business process should then carry out the rest of steps.

Thank you Kyle -

Hadn't used those before; turns out I only needed the one 'Invoke Business Process' and set all the variables there.
