Question

Email attachment size

asked on August 30, 2016

Hi,

Is there a way to determine the file size  that is going to be attached to the email. scenario here is that we have to send invoices as attachments but there is a limit of 20 mb on the recipient server.

both "electronic file size" and "total document size" are always different than what we receive in the email.

"electronic file size" is accurate when sending electronic file only.

but when sending pdf/images "total document size" - "electronic file size" is always more than what we receive in the email .

Thanks

Hi.

If you want to know the size of an especific document you can use a find entry node and after that you can decide if you send an email or you don´t.

Junaid,

Do you have pages generated for those files? Typically when you generate pages they are larger. If you are created an e-mail with an attachment from Laserfiche that contains the TIFFs converted to a PDF they will be much larger. This is due to the images being placed into a PDF file. If you send the original electronic file the file size will remain the same. One way to have consistent smaller image file sizes is to make sure that they are in black and white. Also, is this an automated process or is this always with user interaction when sending e-mails?
