Question

error 6000 generating pages, version 10

asked on August 22, 2016

Server: 10.1.0.151
Client: 10.0.0.994 on Windows 7 (we cannot use the 10.1 client due to an issue).

This error occurs:
                Bringing in PDF files.
                On multiple PCs
                When generating pages either during entry, or after the document is brought into LF.

The only thing I can think of that makes these particular files different, is that parts of them were PDF’d from PowerPoint.

Error Message: Invalid Request

Unknown error. [6000]

------------ Technical Details: ------------

LFCommonDialogs100.dll (10.0.0.863):

    Call Stack: (Current)

        HandleFileImport

        CImport::ImportFile

    Call History:

           CImportInfo::get_GeneratePagesSelected

           CImportInfo::get_SignDocumentDontShowState

           CImportInfo::get_FolderNameConflictOption

           CImportInfo::get_VersionComment

           CImportInfo::get_ImportProfile

           CImportInfo::get_ImportDocument

Generate pages AFTER bringing into LF:

Error generating pages for 'Council Packet 01112014new': Unknown error. [6000] [6000]

Any help would be appreciated.

Found workaround/fix.

If I turn off "Preserve PDF annotations on Laserfiche pages", the problematic files go into LF fine, so that will work on the already created PDFs.

Moving forward, what works is converting the PPT files to PDF and THEN combining them all.

If we combine the native PPT files in Acrobat, we have the above problem.

It may be that there are formatting issues with the PDF. If you've got the ability to print to PDF from your PDF reader, what you could try is open the problematic PDF, and then print it to a PDF and try importing the new PDF to Laserfiche.

I've done that....I forgot to mention that in my original post.

Do you get the same behavior when using the LF sample PDF files found in the LF client folder?

Is there anything special about the PDFs you are importing?

We bring in A LOT of PDFs without issue.   This only seems to be an issue with our city council agenda packets, which have some PowerPoint parts to them.

The sample PDFs go in fine.
